Kathryn Crawford, EdD, is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at Ambrose University. Her work focuses on preservice teacher development, Universal Design for Learning, and ethical inclusion. She holds an EdD from the University of Calgary, an MEd from the University of Calgary, and a BEd from the University of Alberta.
Dr. Crawford's research explores pre-service and early career teacher identity, Indigenous pedagogies, and the socialization of teachers. She co-edited a book analyzing Canadian B.Ed. programs' pandemic responses and led an inter-institutional study on classroom culture modules. Her recent work emphasizes integrating Indigenous knowledge systems into teacher education and addressing systemic racism through pedagogical strategies.
Her articles highlight pandemic adaptations in teacher training, Indigenous curriculum weaving, and innovative teaching methods like escape room design. She has presented at conferences including the Hawaii International Conference on Education and the University of Calgary Postsecondary Learning Conference. Her podcast series, 'Focus on the Field,' explores field experience challenges in teacher education.
Dr. Crawford's current projects focus on decolonizing educational leadership and developing culturally responsive teaching frameworks. She collaborates with institutions across Alberta to advance inclusive educational practices.
