K.E. Coney-Ali is a cultural historian and educator affiliated with Howard University’s College of Fine Arts, Department of Art, where she serves as a Lecturer specializing in African art history and graduate thesis studies. She is also Co-Executive Director of the Howard University Gallery of Art.
- Education includes a B.F.A. in Art Management (minor in Painting), M.A. in Art History in Visual Culture, and graduate certificate in International Studies from Howard University.
- Professional training includes a certificate in Preservation Management from Rutgers University.
Her research focuses on cultural diversity, heritage management, and community-driven education programs, particularly in marginalized communities across Africa and the Diaspora. She advocates for socio-economic empowerment through arts-based initiatives, curating, and preserving living cultures.
Scientific awards include a 2010 AAM Museum and Community Collaboration Abroad program grant and recognition as a 2018 Reciprocal Exchange American Professional by the U.S. Department of State Mandela Washington Leadership Initiative.
Coney-Ali’s career spans roles in communications at the National Endowment for the Arts, museum registration at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian and Reginald F. Lewis Museum, and international projects fostering cross-cultural collaborations. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies at Howard University.
