Dr. Kathleen Wilburn is a Professor of Management at the Bill Munday School of Business, St. Edward's University, where she has held tenure since 2012. Her academic career includes roles as Associate Professor (2007–2012) and Assistant Professor (2002–2007). Her teaching focuses on applying management principles to real-world scenarios, emphasizing ethics and social responsibility through courses like Social Responsibility of Business, Social Enterprise, and International Management. She bridges academic theory with practical experience from her corporate and government management career, and has taught as an adjunct instructor for two decades.
Dr. Wilburn holds a Doctorate in Higher Education Management from the University of Southern California, and MA degrees in Counseling Psychology (University of Northern Colorado) and English (University of New Mexico), alongside a BA in English and Journalism from the University of New Mexico.
Her research interests center on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), nonprofit partnerships, technology's societal impact, and leadership development. She co-authored influential works on benefit corporations, integrated reporting, and social license to operate strategies. Her publications span journals like Business and Professional Ethics Journal and Journal of Global Responsibility.
Her awards include the SEU Distinguished Teaching Award (Finalist, 2006/2013), Advisor of the Year (Finalist, 2007/2013), and a shared Eddie Award for developing a migrant student support program (2010). Her work often explores ethical governance, ESG frameworks, and unintended consequences in business decisions.
Dr. Wilburn advises students on balancing academic and professional growth, emphasizing practical skill application. She has contributed to grants and programs fostering social enterprise and migrant education, reflecting her commitment to socially responsible business practices.
