Kathleen Walker-Meikle is a Researcher at the University of Basel, affiliated with the Department of Environmental Sciences under the Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences. Her work focuses on reconstructing past environmental, climatic, and human interactions using chemical markers, biomarkers, and isotopic analysis.
- Key projects include ADAPT (Algal Dynamics and Productivity through Time), analyzing algae responses to human and natural changes over the 20th century and ancient Romans.
- She contributes to understanding soil degradation through phosphorus loss studies and soil-atmosphere interactions, particularly via windblown dust impacts on climate.
Her research integrates empirical calibration, experimental approaches, and sedimentary record applications. She collaborates with teams like the Organic Geochemistry Group and the Integrative Prehistoric and Natural Science Archaeology (IPNA) group.
