Dr. Kathleen Vejvoda is a Professor of English at Bridgewater State University, holding a PhD from The University of Texas at Austin and a BA from UMass Boston. She specializes in Victorian literature, Irish studies, and children's literature, with additional expertise in ghost stories, horror film, and disability studies. Her scholarly work appears in journals like Victorian Poetry and Irish Studies Review, and she has contributed to anthologies on Irish cinema.
Dr. Vejvoda pioneered the interdisciplinary Childhood Studies program at BSU, now the university's first interdisciplinary major. She has received multiple teaching awards, including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Collaboration to Improve Teaching. Her creative writing includes poetry, memoir, and fiction, with her essay 'The Death Knock' recognized in The Best American Essays 2014.
