Kathleen McGovern

Kathleen McGovern is an Assistant Professor at the University of Southern Maine's School of Education and Human Development, specializing in the Department of Literacy, Language, and Culture. She combines theatre arts with educational practices to enhance second language learning, particularly for adult immigrants in the U.S.

Her research focuses on drama pedagogies in language education, exploring intersections between identity, social justice, and literacy. She has extensive experience teaching ESL/EFL in Morocco and the U.S., and authored the 2021 Routledge publication Enlivening Instruction with Drama and Improv.
