Kathleen Holmes serves as an Instructor in the Department of Engineering Management within the School of Engineering at the University of St. Thomas. With over two decades of professional experience, she has established herself as a leader in leadership development and executive coaching, notably spending 14 years at Microsoft cultivating leadership across engineering and functional teams globally. She is the founder of KMH Advantage, a consulting firm specializing in transformative leadership development for diverse organizations including tech giants, government agencies, and non-profits.
Her educational background includes:
- Advanced Certificate in Executive Coaching, University of St. Thomas
- MA in Higher Education Administration and Student Development Theory, University of Denver
- BA in English Literature, University of Denver
Professor Holmes' professional expertise centers on leadership development, executive coaching methodologies, innovative learning design and delivery systems, action learning problem-solving techniques for teams, emotional intelligence frameworks, and comprehensive diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging programming. Her course ETLS 660: Leadership for Engineers challenges engineering students to develop personalized leadership roadmaps, enhance self-awareness as leaders, and strengthen organizational effectiveness through ethical leadership grounded in the Engineering Code of Ethics.
