Dr. Kathleen Finlayson is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Faculty of Health, School of Nursing. She holds a PhD and Master's in Nursing from QUT. Her research focuses on chronic wound care interventions, prevention of leg ulcers in older adults, and translational research in healthcare. Key affiliations include leadership roles in QUT’s Wound Healing and Community Outreach Service Program and collaborations with organizations like the NHMRC and Australian Research Council.
Research Interests: Chronic wound management, venous leg ulcers, chronic disease prevention, interdisciplinary healthcare models, implementation science, and evidence-based practice translation. Her work emphasizes multidisciplinary teams combining nursing, biomedical engineering, and clinical science.
Awards: 2013 NHMRC Early Career Fellowship for contributions to evidence-based clinical practices. Grants include projects funded by MRFF, Rosemary Bryant Foundation, and Wounds Australia.
Advising/Grants: Supervised doctoral research on surgical wound tools (2019), inflammatory factors in ulcers (2016), and telehealth interventions (2015).
