Kathleen E. Kristian is an Associate Professor in the Chemistry & Biochemistry Department at Iona University. She teaches courses in inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis, and general chemistry, and actively engages in chemical education research.
- Education: Ph.D. in Organometallic Chemistry from Columbia University (2009), Postdoctoral Research Scientist at DOE Ames Laboratory and Iowa State University (2009-2011), BA from Swarthmore College (2004)
Her research spans organometallic and inorganic reaction mechanisms, specializing in the synthesis and reactivity of transition metal complexes of nitrogen oxides. She also contributes to chemical education initiatives, including projects supported by a $1.5 million NSF grant awarded to Iona University.
As Chair of the Chemistry & Biochemistry Department, she oversees academic programs and research activities. Her laboratory collaborates with undergraduate students on cutting-edge chemistry projects.
