Kathleen Coupland serves as a Lecturer and MGEM Program Coordinator within the Department of Forest Resources Management at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Forestry. She has been connected to UBC Forestry since 2014, having completed her Master of Sustainable Forest Management (MSFM) program at the same institution and maintaining an active role in professional forestry education.
Her research centers on innovative forest classification systems with emphasis on non-timber forest values, particularly through:
- Quantifying educational values in urban forests for forestry education using UBC campus as a case study
- Conducting comprehensive LiDAR canopy analysis of every tree on the UBC campus
