Kathleen A. Koth

Kathleen A. Koth is a Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. She combines clinical practice at Children’s Wisconsin with academic leadership as director of M2 psychiatry education, teaching across medical students, residents, and fellows. Her career spans clinician, educator, and researcher roles in developmental neuropsychiatry.

Her research prioritizes early detection of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in underserved populations. Key contributions include analyzing diagnostic barriers (e.g., overreliance on ADOS), developing open-access educational tools for ASD/IDD, and advancing telepsychiatry integration during the pandemic. She has published extensively on ASD comorbidities, diagnostic methodologies, and clinical education innovations.

Kathleen serves as chair of the Intellectual Developmental Disorder Subcommittee and co-chair of the Training and Education Working Group within the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) Autism and Intellectual Disability Committee. She held the presidency of the Wisconsin Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (2016-18) and maintains active executive committee involvement.
