Katherine Wright serves as Associate Professor and Director of Research in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. Her institutional affiliations include the Institute for Public Health and Medicine (IPHAM) - Center for Primary Care Innovation and the Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS).
Her research critically examines systemic inequities in academic medicine, with current focus on gendered impacts of pandemic-era work conditions. A landmark study she contributed to revealed widening publishing disparities between male and female physicians during COVID-19, demonstrating how increased domestic responsibilities disproportionately reduced women's scholarly output despite similar workloads. This work intersects public health policy, gender studies, and medical education reform.
As Director of Research, she oversees departmental innovation initiatives through IPHAM's Center for Primary Care Innovation, driving translational research that bridges clinical practice and community health outcomes. Her leadership in NUCATS further enables cross-disciplinary collaboration on physician-scientist development and healthcare delivery systems.
