معرفی
Katherine Stewart is an Associate Professor in the Department of Soil Science at the University of Saskatchewan, affiliated with the College of Agriculture and Bioresources and the Toxicology Centre. Her research focuses on restoration ecology, nitrogen cycling in northern ecosystems, and environmental remediation strategies for hydrocarbon, heavy metal, and herbicide-impacted soils. She collaborates with industrial partners to develop soil amendment technologies for reclamation projects in northern Canada.
Education:
- B.Sc., M.Sc. (Lakehead University)
- Ph.D. (University of Northern British Columbia)
Research Interests: Dr. Stewart investigates biological processes in Arctic, alpine, and boreal ecosystems to restore sustainable nitrogen pathways. Her work integrates soil microbial communities, vascular plants, and soil surface crusts to address environmental contamination. Current projects emphasize the role of native species in bioremediation and the impacts of topography on nitrogen dynamics.
Teaching: Courses include Quantitative Toxicology (TOX 400.3), Terrestrial Restoration & Remediation (SLSC 398.3), and Soil Science Seminar (SLSC 990).
