Katherine Smith

Katherine Smith, M.D., is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, joining the faculty in 2022. Her clinical expertise focuses on complex gynecology, surgical endometriosis care, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS). She provides comprehensive care for conditions like endometriosis, fibroids, and chronic pelvic pain, utilizing advanced techniques such as laparoscopic and robotic surgery.

Dr. Smith completed her residency at Vanderbilt University and pursued a MIGS fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Florida. Her research interests span surgical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and optimizing pre- and postoperative care. She actively engages in surgical education, mentoring residents and fellows while advancing clinical research in areas like pain management and operative efficiency.

Her scholarly work includes studies on postoperative urinary retention, patient satisfaction with follow-up modalities, and adhesion prevention strategies. Dr. Smith is committed to improving healthcare delivery through innovative approaches to surgical training and supply chain optimization.
