Katherine Martin

Katherine Martin is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Augsburg University since 2021, serving as Program Coordinator of the Health Commons and Director of the BSN program. Her academic focus spans qualitative research, critical discourse analysis, and family-centered care.

Katie’s recent publications and presentations highlight trends in health equity, person-centered care, and family dynamics in pediatric and obstetric nursing. Her studies examine topics such as mammography screening practices, co-parenting complexities, and barriers to healthcare for marginalized populations.

Katherine teaches advanced nursing courses including Nursing Research (Nur 520), Paradigms in Nursing (Nur 306), and Culture/Context in Family Nursing (Nur 403). She mentors doctoral students in completing clinical research projects.

Clinically, she is a Certified Nurse Midwife with experience in obstetrics and public health nursing. She has worked at University of Minnesota Medical Center and Regions Hospital, blending practice with academic inquiry into maternal-child health.
