Katherine Kosiv

Katherine Kosiv, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Cardiology) and Associate Director of Fetal Cardiology at the Yale School of Medicine. She specializes in pediatric cardiology, fetal cardiology, and cardiac imaging. Her roles include caring for children with congenital heart defects and pregnant women with fetuses suspected of having such conditions. She holds affiliations with the Children’s Heart Center, Fetal Care Center, and Hamburg House Affiliates.

Dr. Kosiv received her MD from Ross University School of Medicine (2012), completed pediatric residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine-Peoria (2015), and a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (2018). She further specialized in advanced imaging at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital (2019). Her research focuses on congenital heart defects, trisomy syndromes, and genetic predictors of left-sided obstructive heart diseases like hypoplastic left heart syndrome.

Her work includes developing predictive models for survival in trisomy 13/18 patients and investigating fetal heart adaptations in conditions like congenital diaphragmatic hernia. She co-authored consensus guidelines for managing congenital heart defects in trisomy patients and has been recognized as a Fulbright Scholar (2006).

Dr. Kosiv’s clinical expertise spans fetal echocardiography, transthoracic, and transesophageal imaging. She emphasizes ethical considerations in care for high-risk patients and fosters close family-physician relationships. Her research collaborates with experts like Dina Ferdman, Erin Faherty, and Lissa Sugeng, advancing pediatric cardiology and fetal medicine.
