Katherine Karr-Cornejo is a Professor in the Department of World Languages & Cultures at Whitworth University since 2012. Her research focuses on three interconnected streams: post-dictatorship Chilean historical narratives, theopoetics in Spanish-American poetry, and feminist pedagogies integrating Christian faith and learning. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Virginia and a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis.
Her work bridges literary analysis with theological inquiry, particularly through studies of Gabriela Mistral’s poetry and its intersection with feminist spirituality. She has presented at major conferences like LASA and Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association, focusing on themes of historical memory, gender, and pedagogical innovation.
Teaching extensively in Spanish language and literature, she has developed courses such as Latin American Poetry, Gender and Identity Formation in Latin America, and Spanish American Narrative and History. Her creative writing includes contributions to feminist poetry anthologies like Ixquic.
