Katherine H. Karlsgodt

Katherine H. Karlsgodt is an Associate Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), jointly appointed in the Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. She leads the Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience (CCN) Laboratory, focusing on the neural basis of cognitive deficits in major mental illnesses, particularly schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, with an emphasis on neurodevelopment during adolescence—a critical risk period for these disorders.

Her research employs multimodal techniques, including functional MRI (fMRI), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), clinical assessments, and neurocognitive testing across healthy subjects, patient populations, and animal models. She previously held positions as an Assistant Investigator at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research and an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine.
