Katherine Damme is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Dallas, affiliated with the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences. Her research focuses on neurodevelopmental pathways to psychopathology, leveraging structural/functional MRI and longitudinal modeling to understand how adolescent brain changes influence mental health risks. She leads the Developmental Affective, Motor, Memory, & Imaging (DAMMI) Lab and currently accepts graduate students.
Education: PhD in Psychology (Northwestern University, 2018), MS in Psychology (Northwestern, 2015), BA in Cognitive Neuroscience (Vanderbilt, 2009).
Research interests include translating neurobiological and cognitive developmental processes into interventions for healthy brain development. Key topics: adolescent brain networks, clinical neuroscience, and cognitive neuroscience applications in mental health.
Recent publications explore environmental impacts on brain function, individualized clinical strategies, and transdiagnostic approaches using FitBit data. Funded projects investigate estrogen's role in psychotic-like experiences during adolescence.
Affiliations include the Center for Vital Longevity and the Society for Biological Psychiatry. Grants include NIH-funded work analyzing ABCD study data to identify mechanisms linking estrogen fluctuations to psychosis risk.
