Katharine Chandler is a rare books librarian and assistant professor at the University of Arkansas, specializing in special collections cataloging and medieval manuscripts. With over 20 years of experience in public, academic, and federal libraries, she has held roles as a cataloger, supervisor, curator, and project manager.

Her research interests focus on medieval manuscripts produced by and for the monks of the Chartreuse de Champmol, special collections cataloging using MARC, RDA, and DCRM(B) standards, and digital collections maintenance. She also explores bibliographic description of rare materials and language-specific cataloging (French, German, Latin, Swedish).
Scientific awards include the 2015 ACRL WESS-SEES De Gruyter Grant, Kevin Freeman Travel Grant (2009), Donald Krummel Award for Rare Book School (2005), and Midwest Chapter MLA Retirees Scholarship (2004).
Katharine has taught INFO 248 – Beginning Cataloging and Classification and led retroconversion projects at the Library of Congress. She is a member of the Research Group on Manuscript Evidence and Rare Book and Music Library Associations. Her technical skills include HTML, JavaScript, Ruby, and cataloging tools like MarcEdit.
