Katharina Jochemko

Katharina Jochemko is an Assistant Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and a current Hanna Neumann Fellow at the Berlin Mathematics Research Center Math+. She previously held postdoctoral positions at TU Vienna, KTH, and the Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing in Berkeley.

• Education: PhD in Mathematics from Freie Universität Berlin (Berlin Mathematical School, Hilda Geiringer Scholar)

Her research focuses on geometric and algebraic combinatorics, discrete and convex geometry, with an emphasis on polytopes and polyhedra and their interactions with algebra, combinatorics, optimization, and data science. She has contributed to understanding combinatorial structures through geometric lenses and their applications in computational theory.

She has received notable recognition including:

• Hanna Neumann Fellowship at Math+
• Hilda Geiringer Scholarship at Berlin Mathematical School

Outside of academia, Katharina enjoys outdoor activities like hiking in Scandinavia, swimming, board games, and baking.
