Katharina Hecht is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the International Business and Strategy Group at Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business and concurrently serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology within the College of Social Sciences and Humanities. Her research focuses on perceptions of income/wealth inequality, temporal aspects of wealth, geographic/social mobility, and elite dynamics. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Her work bridges economic sociology and public policy, examining how individuals conceptualize wealth, navigate social hierarchies, and interact with welfare systems. Notable contributions include studies on performance-based pay’s role in inequality perceptions and the intersection of social origins with geographic mobility in elite professions.
Publications span journals like Socio-Economic Review, Journal of Social Policy, and Sociology, addressing themes such as wealth temporality, tax policy debates, and the sociological dimensions of economic elites. Her research frequently engages with UK and comparative contexts, emphasizing empirical rigor and interdisciplinary frameworks.
