Katerina Kermeli is a Researcher in Energy & Resources at Utrecht University's Copernicus Institute. She develops industrial energy efficiency guidelines for U.S. EPA and created the IndustryPLAN model for EU decarbonization scenarios under the sEEnergies project.
Her research quantifies energy savings potential in mineral processing, chemical manufacturing, and food production industries. Current projects focus on material efficiency in integrated assessment models and industrial excess heat utilization.
She holds a PhD in Industrial Energy Demand Modeling from Utrecht University and collaborates on Horizon Europe initiatives for sustainable industry transitions.
