Kate Zambon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of New Hampshire's College of Liberal Arts. Her research examines the cultural politics of nationalism, migration, and integration through critical media analysis, with particular focus on European contexts and German case studies. She directs CAMRA (Collaborative for Advanced Multimedia Research and Applications), an interdisciplinary initiative advancing multimodal scholarship beyond traditional written formats.
Her educational background includes a B.A. in Italian and German Studies from Vassar College, followed by M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Communication from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research takes a historically grounded approach connecting media representations to political and economic logics, with emphasis on transnational migration, biopolitics, and the affective dimensions of citizenship.
Zambon's publication trends reveal sustained engagement with European integration paradigms since 2014, evolving from analyses of German football nationalism and transcultural comedy toward contemporary examinations of celebrity politics, hip-hop pedagogy, and affective dimensions of sports. Her work consistently interrogates how media representations reinforce or challenge racialized integration logics, with recent scholarship focusing on the refusal of multiculturalism across Europe and the rise of new policing paradigms for transnational populations.
As founding director of CAMRA, she leads initiatives promoting digital, film, audio, and web-based scholarship across disciplines. Her teaching portfolio includes courses on Global Media Culture & Power, Media & Global Populism, and Introduction to Media Studies, reflecting her commitment to transnational media analysis and critical pedagogy approaches.
