Kate Winskell is an Associate Professor in the Hubert Department of Global Health at Emory University. She specializes in communication for social and behavioral change, digital behavioral interventions, and game-based approaches for mobile health (mHealth). Her work focuses on HIV prevention, diabetes, and global health issues, particularly in Africa. She leads projects like the Tumaini smartphone game for HIV prevention and the Global Dialogues initiative, which uses short films to address HIV/AIDS through community-based participatory research.
Education: PhD and MA from the University of London, BA (Hons) from the University of Oxford.
Research interests include narrative-based interventions, participatory design, and the analysis of over 100,000 youth narratives on HIV/AIDS to inform health messaging. Current projects include efficacy trials in Kenya and development of HIV-related games and a gamified diabetes app.

Teaching includes courses on communication-based participatory action research and social/behavior change communication. Grants and collaborations involve Kenya Medical Research Institute and global health partnerships.
