Kate Nash is a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Head of the School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Social Care at the University of Winchester. She holds dual roles as Lead Midwife for Education and Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA). With over two decades of clinical and academic experience, Nash has held leadership positions at the University of the West of England, University of West London, Middlesex University, and Worcester University. Her academic credentials include a Doctorate in Clinical Practice from Southampton University (2020) and a Masters in Midwifery (2008).
Her research focuses on improving midwifery practice through quality assurance, clinical supervision, and holistic care. Notable areas include intrapartum care, caesarean birth, and maternal wellbeing. She has led national initiatives such as developing the Professional Midwifery Advocacy and Leadership module at UWL and co-authored influential texts like Wellbeing and Resilience for Nursing, Health and Social Care Students (2023). Nash is actively involved in NHS trust reviews, including the independent review of Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.
Her publications span midwifery education, fetal monitoring, and maternal health outcomes, emphasizing evidence-based practices. She advocates for self-care and supportive learning environments to enhance student and clinician resilience. Current projects include integrating quality improvement strategies into midwifery curricula and addressing systemic challenges in maternity care.
