Kate McGrath is the Associate Dean for Planning and Resources at the Carol A. Ammon College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, Central Connecticut State University, where she also serves as a Professor of History. Her work bridges medieval historiography, emotional history, and interdisciplinary pedagogy.

Her research explores how medieval texts framed anger as a cultural script to regulate aristocratic norms, violence, and dependencies in Northern France and Anglo-Norman territories. She has published extensively on topics including royal authority, peasant uprisings, gender roles, and religious persecution, with a focus on 11th-13th century narratives.
Kate’s publications from 2010–2019 span medieval emotions, chivalry, trauma, and interdisciplinary analyses of power dynamics. Key themes include the intersection of violence and nobility, gendered emotional expressions, and the use of anger to legitimize or critique authority.

She actively engages in academic service, serving as Secretary of the New England Medieval Consortium and on the Board of the Connecticut Council for Social Studies.
