Kate McElvaney is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Houston, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. She holds an M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Houston. Her work focuses on biological anthropology and bioarchaeology, examining the intersection of culture and biology through skeletal remains of past populations. She specializes in the Maya pre-classic period, analyzing non-specific infection markers to explore social stratification in ancient communities.
