Kate Harriden

Kate Harriden is a Visiting Indigenous Fellow at the Centre for Aboriginal Economic Policy Research and a Researcher in the Adaptation, livelihoods and development in Asia and the Pacific group at the Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions (ICEDS) of the Australian National University.

Her research focuses on:

• Integrating traditional ecological knowledge into urban water management
• Transdisciplinary approaches to environmental systems
• Intra-household water use dynamics
• Slums as environmental actors

Harriden advocates for multidisciplinary research methods, combining water science with social science as demonstrated in her PhD work. Her current research examines contemporary urban water management practices through the lens of Indigenous knowledge systems, addressing critical gaps in policy development. At ICEDS, she contributes to climate and disaster resilience initiatives with a specific focus on Asia-Pacific adaptation strategies.
