Kate Colechin serves as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education and Childhood and Pre Higher Education Careers Consultant within Student and Partnership Services (SPS) at the University of the West of England. With over 25 years of experience supporting students across educational settings—including 11 years in university careers services—she drives widening participation initiatives for local 16-19 year olds and delivers career development education.

Ms. Colechin specializes in career guidance pedagogy, labor market analysis for school leavers and graduates, and designing interactive group activities. Her expertise encompasses recruitment support, targeted career information systems, and building external partnerships with organizations to enhance student opportunities. As a mentor for the Career Development Institute's QCD award, she bridges academic theory with professional practice in career education.
She actively contributes to the Widening Access team, making higher education accessible to underrepresented groups, while advancing career development through the Postgraduate Diploma program where she provides academic instruction and professional mentorship.
