Dr. Katarzyna Pejda serves as Assistant Professor in the 2nd Department of Sinology at the Institute of Literary Studies, Faculty of Humanities, John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. Her academic work centers on classical Chinese philosophy with particular expertise in Confucian ethics and textual analysis of the Four Books.
Her research focuses on conceptual analysis of Confucian ethics through emic/etic perspectives, examining foundational concepts including ren (仁), xiao (孝), de (德), he (和), and lian/man (face theory). She investigates moral self-cultivation processes, relational self-theory, and comparative studies between Chinese and Western philosophical frameworks. Her methodological approach combines textual criticism with cross-cultural conceptual analysis.
Analysis of her 15 most recent publications reveals consistent scholarly engagement with Confucian ethical systems, particularly through examination of the Analects, Mengzi, Zhong Yong, and Xiao Jing. Her work demonstrates increasing methodological sophistication in emic/etic analysis and conceptual clustering approaches to Chinese philosophical terms.
