Katarzyna Józefowicz is a Professor and current Dean of the Faculty of Sculpture and Intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. She is a renowned artist specializing in drawings, installations, sculptures, and objects, with her works exhibited internationally in galleries such as Koło (Gdańsk), Foksal Gallery Foundation (Warsaw), Arsenał (Białystok), and the Sydney Biennale.
Her artistic practice focuses on creating multi-element works that interact dynamically with existing spaces, often incorporating parasitic interventions on previously used areas. She studied at the Faculty of Sculpture in Gdańsk under Professor Edward Sitek, graduating in 1986.
Józefowicz’s works emphasize the relationship between spatial history, function, and artistic reinterpretation, as seen in projects like Obrus (Tablecloth), Po słowie (After the Word), and Teren prywatny (Private Property).
