Katarzyna Górska, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora, Faculty of International and Political Studies, Jagiellonian University. She holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies from the same institution and has been actively involved in research and teaching related to Latin American cultures, migration, and identity.
Her academic interests include cultural identity, transculturation, urban culture, and internal migration, with a focus on Peru and Latin America. Her research explores how migrant communities in cities like Lima construct identity through cultural practices, music, and public policy.
Her recent publications span books, journal articles, and conference papers, covering topics such as multiculturalism in Lima, Quechuan modernity, and the fusion of Andean and tropical rhythms in chicha music. These works reflect a strong interdisciplinary approach, combining cultural studies, sociology, and political science.
She has been involved in significant research projects funded by the National Science Centre and the Excellence Initiative at JU, including studies on immigrants' adaptation during the pandemic and the impact of Poland’s immigration policy changes. She also serves as a tutor for the Students Association of Latin American Studies and coordinates the OSA program.
