Kasper Jørgensen

Kasper Jørgensen is a Research Fellow at the Department of Law, Aalborg University. His research focuses on criminal law, particularly preventive measures against child sexual offenses, legal processes, and human rights. He holds a PhD fellowship investigating the implementation and human rights challenges of Denmark’s legal framework for supervising convicted sex offenders (Section 236 of the Penal Code). He has published nationally and internationally on criminal law, legal policy, and sociolegal issues. Kasper is the Chair of the Nordic Research Network on Prevention of Child Sexual Offending (2024-2025) and a member of the editorial board for Dansk Sociologi.

Research Interests: His work bridges criminology and legal studies, emphasizing preventive justice, sex offender management, and the intersection of law and human rights. He critically examines legal frameworks for sexual offense prevention, including police supervision, court costs, and procedural delays. Recent projects include international comparative studies on sex offender treatment and policy impacts on marginalized groups.

Awards & Activities: Collaborations include Leeds Beckett University and Nordic/international networks. He participates in policy advisory roles, such as the Ministry of Justice’s working group on court cost models. Recent activities include lectures on preventive policing, presentations at conferences, and media engagements discussing child protection and legal reforms.

Labs/Teams: Leads the Nordic Research Network on Prevention of Child Sexual Offending and contributes to the Global & Transnational Law Research Group at Aalborg University.
