Dr Kasia Bijak is a Lecturer in Management Science at the Southampton Business School, University of Southampton. She holds a PhD from the University of Southampton (2013) and an MSc from the Warsaw School of Economics (2004). Her research focuses on quantitative methods in credit scoring, including Bayesian inference, data mining, artificial intelligence, stochastic processes, and econometrics. Notable areas include dynamic consumer risk modeling (using Kalman filters), LGD model evaluation, and healthcare applications of scoring systems.
Teaching responsibilities include modules such as Introduction to Business Analytics and SAS Base Programming. She is affiliated with the Centre for Operational Research, Management Science and Information Systems (CORMSIS). Her work integrates statistical methodologies with practical industry applications in finance and healthcare, addressing challenges like dynamic affordability assessment and fraud detection.
