Dr. Karly Murphy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at East Carolina University (ECU). Her research focuses on psycho-oncology, particularly developing interventions to improve psychosocial well-being for adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors. She leads NIH-funded studies using digital health tools to address depression in this population. Her work emphasizes scalability, equity, and user-centered design.
Education: BA in Psychology from Hope College (2011), MS in Psychological Science from Seattle Pacific University (2014), PhD in Clinical Psychology from Seattle Pacific University (2018), followed by a clinical internship at the University of Florida and postdoctoral training at Wake Forest and Northwestern University.
Research Interests: Digital mental health interventions, AYA cancer survivorship, equitable implementation of psychosocial care, and improving clinical trial participation through tailored interventions. Current projects include an NCI-funded study optimizing an mHealth tool (iManageAYA) for depression management.
