معرفی
Dr. Karla O'Neill is a Research Fellow at the Wellcome Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine, part of Queen's University Belfast's School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences. Her research focuses on cellular mechanisms in vascular biology, particularly endothelial dysfunction in diabetes and hypoxia. She has received multiple awards for her work, including the Scottish Cardiovascular Forum Best Oral Presentation Prize (2021, 2018) and the FMHLS Postdoc Society Research Excellence Prize (Winner 2022).
Her expertise spans molecular biology, oxidative stress, and angiogenesis. Key topics include NOX4 signaling in endothelial cells, diabetes-induced vascular complications, and therapeutic strategies for cardiovascular repair. Collaborations have expanded her work into clinical and experimental diabetes models.
- Research Highlights: Angiogenic dysfunction in diabetes, hypoxia-induced vascular responses, and NADPH oxidase pathways.
- Media Recognition: Featured in Belfast Telegraph and Dungiven local press for groundbreaking cardiovascular discoveries.
