Karl Zimmerer is a Professor of Geography at the Pennsylvania State University with courtesy appointments in Ecology and Rural Sociology. He directs the GeoSyntheSES Lab and is affiliated with the Earth and Environmental Systems Institute (EESI) and the Intercollege Graduate Degree Program in Ecology.
Research Interests: His work focuses on global food geographies, with emphasis on agrobiodiversity, human-environment theory, climate change, and socioeconomic transformations. He employs social and political ecology frameworks to study urbanization, migration, and sustainability in diverse regions.
