Karl Grosh is a Professor in both the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan College of Engineering. His research spans cochlear mechanics, Micromachined cochlear-like transducers, and computational mechanics. He is associated with the Vibrations and Acoustics Lab and the Hearing, Balance and Chemical Senses Training Program.

- Cochlear mechanics and hearing
- Piezoelectric MEMS transducers
- Completely implantable cochlear prosthesis
- Structural acoustics and computational mechanics
- Growth and mechanics of biological tissue

- Education Excellence Award, U-M College of Engineering (2007-08)
- NSF CAREER Award (1999)
- Young Investigator Award, Office of Naval Research (1999)
Key Collaborations: Co-founder of Vesper Technologies (with Bobby Littrell), collaborations with Oregon Health Sciences University, Columbia University, and Linköping University. His work includes finite element modeling, nonlinear dynamics, and biomedical device development.
