Karl Evangelista

Karl Evangelista is a Lecturer at San Francisco State University (SFSU), affiliated with the Race & Resistance Studies program. He holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from UC Berkeley (2006) and an MFA in Improvised Music from Mills College (2009). His work bridges jazz, experimental rock, and multicultural concepts with political and artistic innovation. Evangelista has collaborated with prominent artists like Scott Amendola, Fred Frith, and Oliver Lake, and leads the duo Grex. He has directed guitar ensembles at institutions including the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts and San Francisco Waldorf High School.
