Karl Berggren

Karl K. Berggren is the Joseph F. and Nancy P. Keithley Professor and Head of Electrical Engineering at MIT. He leads research in quantum nanostructures, superconducting devices, nanophotonics, and electron-beam systems through the Quantum Nanostructures and Nanofabrication Group.

Education:

• PhD in Electrical Engineering from MIT

Awards include MacVicar Faculty Fellowship for teaching excellence and multiple fellowships (AAAS, IEEE, Kavli). Research focuses on pushing performance limits of photonic and electronic devices through nanofabrication innovations. Teaches courses in quantum systems and nanofabrication.
