Karin E. Westman is a Professor and Department Head of the Department of English at Kansas State University (KSU), where she has served since 2007. She holds a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University (1996) and specializes in 20th-century and contemporary British literature, with particular focus on cultural studies, women's studies, narrative theory, and children's literature. Her research explores intersections between literature and media, modernism, and fan culture, notably through studies of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series and its sociohistorical contexts. She co-edits The Lion and the Unicorn, a journal dedicated to children's literature.
