Karin Menninga is a Lecturer-researcher at the Research Centre for Built Environment – NoorderRuimte, affiliated with the University of Groningen. Her role combines teaching and research in Facility Management, with a focus on health and wellbeing in built environments. She holds a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Groningen (2012), exploring theoretical models of smoking cessation.
Her research interests include communication strategies, behavioral psychology, and workplace wellbeing. Notably, she co-led the 2015 Innovation Lab Healthy Workplace project, addressing work environment optimization, activity-based working, and user behavior analysis. She is a member of the Facility Management network (2016–2023), contributing to interdisciplinary collaborations.
Her sole published work to date is her PhD thesis, which introduced novel insights into abstinence maintenance mechanisms. While no scientific awards are listed, her project-based grants and network participation highlight active engagement in applied research.
