Karin Joelsson is a Lecturer at Linköping University (LiU), affiliated with the Department of Culture and Society (IKOS) and the Division for Swedish as a Second Language, Rhetoric and Language Support (SAROS). She specializes in teaching Swedish as a second language and serves as a language tutor in SAROS. Her professional background includes certifications as a teacher of Swedish and Swedish as a second language for primary and secondary education, as well as a special education teacher focusing on language, reading, and writing development.
Her research and professional activities emphasize literacy development for multilingual populations, particularly low-educated adults. A notable contribution includes a 2023 article for the National Center for Swedish as a Second Language’s newsletter, exploring how mother tongue instruction supports literacy in underserved adult learners.
