Karin Groothuis-Oudshoorn is an Associate Professor at the University of Twente, affiliated with the Health Technology & Services Research department and the TechMed Centre. She holds additional roles at the Digital Society Institute. Her expertise spans health economics, patient preference analysis, and AI applications in healthcare. She has received awards for teaching excellence, including the 2019 Best English Speaking Lecturer award and the 2017 Onderwijsprijs Health Science.

Her research focuses on patient-centered methodologies, including discrete choice experiments, machine learning, and predictive modeling in oncology. She has published extensively on breast cancer recurrence prediction (e.g., the INFLUENCE model) and preference transferability in healthcare decision-making.
Her work addresses SDGs related to health and well-being, leveraging AI for societal impact. Recent articles explore methodological advancements in preference elicitation and clinical prediction models.
