معرفی
Karim Clivaz is a researcher and doctoral student at ETH Zurich, currently serving as a Scientific Assistant in the Chair of Ecological Plant Genetics at the Institute of Integrative Biology. His roles include teaching in the Research Seminar: Ecological Genetics and Practical Course in Environmental Biology since 2024.
- Doctoral Thesis: Ecological Genetics (2024–present), ETH Zurich
- Past Experience: Research Intern (2022–2023) at Molecular Ecology and Health Laboratory, Ehime University, Japan
- Education: MSc in Environmental Sciences (2021–2023), BSc in Environmental Sciences (2018–2021), both from ETH Zurich
His research focuses on ecological and conservation genetics, addressing two key projects: [1] inbreeding dynamics in wild species to track genetic diversity changes across space and time, and [2] adaptation mechanisms of the pioneer plant Silene acaulis in Svalbard under Arctic Greening and climate warming. This work contributes to understanding biodiversity conservation, species resilience, and ecological responses to environmental shifts.
- Scientific Awards:
- ETH Medal 2024
- Honours Year Distinction 2024
Karim combines research and teaching at ETH Zurich, with prior experience in molecular ecology projects at Ehime University. His email address is karim.clivaz@usys.ethz.ch.
