Kari Andén Papadopoulos

Professor Kari Andén Papadopoulos is a faculty member in the Department of Media Studies at Stockholm University. Professor Andén Papadopoulos completed her doctoral studies at Stockholm University, defending her PhD thesis titled "The Camera at War: The Photographic Representation of the Vietnam War in the Swedish Press" on November 30, 2000. She is affiliated with the Network Language and Power research group, which examines how language functions as a tool of power in increasingly polarized societies.

Her current primary research project focuses on "Eyewitness video and human rights practice," analyzing the intersection between citizen-recorded video footage and formal human rights documentation and advocacy. This work explores how smartphone-captured videos by ordinary citizens are incorporated into human rights monitoring and legal processes.
