Dr. Karen Roscoe is an Assistant Professor at Coventry University's School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health, contributing to Social Work education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She holds a PhD in Social Work Discourse (2014) from the University of Chester and a Social Work degree from Wrexham Glyndŵr University (2001). Her research focuses on social policy implementation, critical theory, and discourse analysis, with a particular emphasis on occupational cultures and welfare initiatives. She has collaborated with local authorities and voluntary services on projects like Restorative Practice and domestic violence advocacy, publishing in journals such as Critical and Radical Social Work and Journal of Social Work Practice.
Her research interests include critical discourse analysis, social justice, and the application of narrative theory in social work practice. She has explored topics such as ICT access for older adults, youth justice compliance, and perceptions of European migrants in criminal contexts. Karen’s work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to social justice and education.
