Karen Ober

Karen Ober is a Professor at the College of the Holy Cross. Her primary research focuses on molecular and morphological diversity in insects, with an emphasis on evolutionary history, molecular evolution, and developmental biology. She investigates patterns and processes of morphological change and adaptations in beetles, a group exemplifying evolutionary success and diversification. Her work spans two major areas: evolutionary relationships of beetles and processes driving morphological diversity in insects.

Dr. Ober holds a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. Her expertise includes entomology, evolutionary biology, and systematics. Her lab explores how ecological and molecular changes contribute to biodiversity, particularly in beetle species. She is affiliated with the College’s research community and contributes to academic programs in biology.
