Karen Luker is Emeritus Professor and former Queen's Nursing Institute Professor of Community Nursing at the University of Manchester. With a PhD in Social Science and Nursing from the University of Edinburgh, her research examines daily living experiences of people with long-term conditions, focusing on self-management and quality-of-life improvement.
Her cancer survivorship research explores return-to-work challenges and financial impacts. She has led studies on district nursing's role in end-of-life care and developed interventions for informal carers. Awards include fellowship of the Academia Europaea and Academy of Medical Sciences.
